March, 2004 Backstage from portfolio "The witch", part one |

Once again, this page of my diary is written by the model protagonist of
the shooting session. The text is a translation of the original Italian
text, without censorships.
"Working with you, Alessandro, has been really like posing for a painter, but instead of a paintbrush on a canvas I have seen a lens capturing the light of my forms. I wrote to you once that I wanted to be your model for the witch project: well, in the 21st Century I have felt like a kind of witch who embodies the knowledge of centuries and centuries! You created a sort of spell with your lenses and lights. Yes, it was a spell not only because I posed like a witch, but also because the atmosphere was surrealistic, like in a book of fairy tales. As you know, this was my first job, and therefore it served to me as a sort of birth. I tasted every moment of this new experience. Today I still feel the scent of powders placed on my skin and the light and delicate touch of the make-up artist, who was so clever to make me feel at ease. I certainly looked serious, because it was a sacred moment for me. I watched with how much seriousness and care you fixed the lights, and with how much engagement you tried to create the right atmosphere for the witch. I was astonished, amazed, and I said to myself: "This is how art is generated". Yes, Alessandro, as you know, art flows in my vein - besides I attend the artistic grammar school. Nothing affects me more like watching "The dead Christ" of Mantegna, a picture where the only colors used are ranges of dark, sand-like gray but where lights and shades praise life, not death. Sometimes, when I loose myself in my dreams in front of a work of art, I close my eyes and imagine the face of the artist while painting. Well, yesterday I had the eyes wide open and it was a very intense emotion to see with how much passion you carried out your job. I felt as if the world stopped itself. Then I noticed with how much tact you dealt with me and your staff, and I felt like a sort of Sevres China statue. I noticed the consideration you had in making me feel comfortable, even with little things like turning on the stove because you were afraid I could be cold. I smiled to myself as I looked around and I saw my super-mother-controller while sewing, immersed in music, its passion, the colors of the room -orange and blue-, the satisfied look of the smiling make-up artist. At that very moment I really felt like hugging all of you." Chiara. Below are shown a few pictures from the backstage; portfolio "The witch" is available in Fine Art gallery. Ending titles |
